Mia Sarosi

Mia Sarosi was born in South Africa in 1970 and moved to England in 1983. After obtaining a degree in mathematics and philosophy, and with an ambition to become an artist, Mia started work as a painter at Isis Ceramics in Oxford. With seven years experience as a senior artist, she left Isis and set about teaching herself how to make pots by throwing on the potter's wheel - a task which has kept her busy for the past six years, and will continue to do so for many years to come. During this time Mia had advice and help from studio potters Barbara Payne and Lucienne de Mauny.

Mia Sarosi now produces her own work from her studio in rural Oxfordshire, near Abingdon, England. Her pottery is designed and created by her from start to finish. The style is varied and fresh, drawing ideas from many different influences and traditions. Since equines are a never-ending source of inspiration for her work, Mia is frequently to be found riding a horse before, after and quite often during the working day.
