The Technical Perspective: Using traditional ceramics techniques, Mia produces finest quality earthenware and porcelain. Each piece is unique and striking.

The ceramics are made from white earthenware and are wheel thrown. The glossy clean white background colour comes from using a zircon or tin-based glaze. The palette of decorative colours consists of different oxides of which the most common is the classic blue cobalt oxide. Decoration is applied to the raw glaze surface using freehand brushwork, before the final firing.

This production process is highly skilled. Repetition, to give uniformity in design, helps add fluency and retain the character that is so often lost in the industrial pot. The handmade process gives every pot a uniqueness all of its own.
